Terms of Service

Last updated: 27 July 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Callosium ("Callosium," "we," "us") for using the Callosium app, website, and related services (together, the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Early access

Callosium is in early access and under active development. Features may change, break, or be removed, and things may not always work perfectly. We provide the Service on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

Your account

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Tell us at support@callosium.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your notes and data are yours

Callosium is local-first. Your notes and files live on your own device and remain yours. We do not claim any ownership of your content, and, as our Privacy Policy explains, we do not receive or store it. You are responsible for your own backups of your files.

The open-source parts

Callosium's core is open source under the Apache License 2.0. Your use of that source code is governed by that license, which you can read in the project repository. These terms cover your use of the hosted Service (this website, accounts, and any paid features), not the open-source license grant.

Acceptable use

Please use the Service lawfully. Do not use it to break the law or infringe the rights of others; do not attempt to disrupt, attack, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure; and do not misuse the waitlist, sign-up, or email systems (for example, spam or fraud).

Paid plans

Callosium's local app is free. We plan to offer paid plans for additional, service-based features in the future. When we do, the specific terms, prices, and billing will be presented at that time. Nothing on the free plan is taken away when paid plans launch: your notes remain yours and readable, always.

No warranty

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any result (such as search accuracy) will meet your needs. Any measurements or benchmarks we publish describe our own testing and are not a promise of performance on your data.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Callosium will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Because your files live on your own device, keeping your own backups is the best protection against data loss.

Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. Because the app is local-first, uninstalling it leaves your notes untouched as plain files you keep. We may suspend or end the Service, or your access to it, if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the Service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we do, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, provide notice.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
